When I open Windows Explorer and select a file, I can not see enough
contrast between a selected file and files that are not selected. Is there a
setting that will allow me to change the colors of selected files? Maybe it
is my machine, and maybe my eyes aren;t like they use to be. I hope i just
need to change a setting.
thanks

MS in their wisdom has decided this is the way it should be and that you
should not try to change it. This was complained about during the beta
testing.

Many have said the same thing. I didn't like it at first either, but
have gotten use to it. If you want to keep Aero's color scheme,
there's nothing you can do. This is suppose to be one of the so-called
"improvements".

If it really bugs you you'll need to change settings picking one of
the older classic Window Color schemes where you pick from either
stronger color contrast schemes or customize to your own liking.

To do that, right click on a empty spot on your desktop. Personalize.
Windows Color and Appearance. Click on the line that reads open
classic appearance properties for more color options.

You now be see the old Appearance Settings Dialog box. Try one of the
predefined color schemes. If none are to your liking click on the
advance button. Under Item are all the desktop objects you can change.
Pick each in turn then click on the color pads. To get custom colors
click 'other' and you finally get to the controls to really customize
colors. All you lose doing this is the rather laughable Aero
transparency crap.

That's one of the reasons I stopped using the eye candy and reverted to the
classic theme.
