Windows Explorer Size and Position

I've seen numerous posts out there about how to get Vista to remember
the size and position of Windows Explorer. Altering registry keys,
holding down Alt, Ctrl, or Shift while closing etc. None of these worked
reliably for me. Here's what I've stumbled across that works in my Vista
Home Premium 32bit:

* Position and size Windows Explorer as desired.
* Select the Computer folder (via Navigation Pane or Address Bar)
* Close Windows Explorer (no need to hold down any keys)

Appears that Vista will remember your settings only when closing from
the Computer Folder.

Hello Clayton,

Yeah, Vista will not remember the sub dialog boxes like the "Save As",
"Open", etc.... ones.

It should remember them from any normal Windows Explorer window though.

Interesting! The posted trick works when I open Explorer using the
Windows-E keyboard shortcut. After your post, I tested opening Explorer
via a Run command or All Programs->Accessories->Windows Explorer, and
sure enough it does not work that way. Amazing that MS has made this so
difficult!

Hello John,

What type of windows or setting were you wanting Vista to remember for
you?
