Windows Explorer (Vista Ultimate) won't remember size

Every time I start Explorer it displays in a "default" window size even
though the last time I used it I had resized it to almost full-screen. I
think it used to "remember" the last setting, like most Windows apps, and
come up in that setting. What happened? Did some Microsoft update alter a
Registry setting just for Explorer? I really don't want to go through the
hassle of trying to back out of 15 or 20 or so Windows Updates to find the
culprit. Yeah, I'm lazy.

I have switched to using Explorer 2 for this reason for now. Windows
Explorer is mostly used for file deletions and other quick chnges but this
postage stamp-sized default start window is getting bothersome.

Could someone tell me how I go about getting Explorer to "remember" the last
size setting?

Thanks,

Turner

Thanks for the link. If I have a couple of days to mess around with th
registry I will try that.

How could MS meddle with an OS so thoroughly. I mean, I suppose ther
are some nice things to it behind the scenes, though I thought XP wa
just fine as it was (and all my programs and hardware worked). But o
the surface, all the Vista glamor is unncessary. I prefer a GUI tha
works.

Sorry to crab at you, I appreciate the time you spent getting me tha
link. Just venting about MS

Thanks for being patient with me. Urmm..

So, I ran the reg file (my comment about setting aside a couple of day
to do that were based on my fear that Murphy's law might take over, a
it has for so many things on this brand new computer). But it didn'
fix my problem. When I reopen windows (Explorer, etc.) they are back t
the default; neither where last placed them nor the size I left them.

Thoughts?

:cry
