Windows Explorer Window Sizing Issue

I am trying to get my Windows Explorer window to start up in a full
screen position. I had it working at one time and now I can't get it
back again. I have researched this quite a bit with no real answers. I
have tried re-setting the folder options to remember the screen setting
but this did not work. I also read that this is a Vista problem that no
one has found an answer as to why Windows Explorer fails to remember its
setting. I am hoping that someone has a different fix. I know it is a
minor issue but it is driving me crazy trying to figure this out. Any
info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm running Vista Ultimate with SP1. Explorer remembers its window size. I
run it maximized.

Start the Explorer Window and size it the way you want it. Choose File
->Close while holding down the shift key.

FYI - Vista may eventually forget this along with your other folder
preferences such as columns displayed... it's a known bug that MS is
too incompetent to fix.

Thanks for that info. I have already tried that and it doesn't work. I
guess I have to live with this until it is fixed. I don't understand why
the Hack for this works for other people and not me???

Try doing this and it will make Vista remember your folder settings.

Mansrm81,

Thanks but this was the hack I refered to. I tried the download and it
wouldn't allow the registry to be modified even as administrator. I
tried to enter it manually and I had nothing in my registry after
classes\local. I did have it after software\misrosoft etc but in the end
it didn't work either. Not sure why it works for others and not be or
why others have more in their registry after classes\local but I doin't.
Thanks.

PaulM, Thanks for letting me try yet another shot at this fix bu
unfortunately it didn't work either. I followed the direction
presicely. Unchecked the box then re-checked the box after a restart
When I open Windows Explorer or windows like Control Panel it jus
doesn't want to remember that the last time it was open it wa
maximized. I wish I knew why these fixes work for some and not for me.
am not doing anything unusal and I have all virus, spyware and malwar
checkers disabled via msconfig. Thanks for trying
