Windows Firewall blocking remote assistance.

Hello. When someone tries to do remote assistance with me and my new Vista
machine, they get a message saying Windows Firewall is blocking it. I checked
the firewall, and there are check marks creating exceptions for Windows Live
Messenger and remote assistance. I turned off the Norton firewall. Are there
any other settings that may cause this?

Hi there,

Is your friend running Windows Vista or XP? Does he also have his Windows
Firewall boxes checked to allow for remote assistance and WL Messenger? Is
he using the standard Windows Firewall or Norton?

Not forgetting Windows Live OneCare which overrides the Windows Firewall. If
you're running 1.5 (not sure about 1.0 as I never used it), then check the
settings for that.
