I have Windows Home XP with SP2. It is my personal computer. This all started
when I upgraded spysweeper from 4.0 to 5.0. I can not turn on or off my
firewall in the control panel command. Both are greyed out. This is what I
have done to correct it. I have reset winsock reset it didnt work. I have
tried to run netsh firewall enable or disable it doesnt change things. I have
tried to reinstal %windir\inf file and it doesn 't do anything either. I did
run a command prompt that told me that the firewall was enable under a group
policy. I have never set up an adminstrator on this computer becasue it is
not on a network. I have gone through the knowledge base and it has not been
helpful either.

Can anyone help?

I have found an obscured posting that sent me to
http;//winodwsxp.mvps.org/sharedaccess. I went to the registry file under
local machine policies and it had me to delete the windows fireewall branch.
This worked. They referenced that this was a problem with windows live access
care that changes your computer to group policies since they have thier own
firewall. I do believe I ran it after downloading spysweeper.

Anyway this fixed it.
