Hi guys need some help please, all of a sudden my windows firewall has gone
off and I cannot put it back on manually or auto. I have scanned my system
with 3 virus programs and spyware programs and all is clear. I do not have
any Norton software on my pc but the only thing I have done recently is put
a new netgear wireless router on my system.

Any help please

running vista home premium all up to date

Open a command prompt as Administrator by clicking on Start -> All
Programs -> Accessories -> right-click on Command Prompt -> choose "Run
as administrator"

Type the following commands, pressing Enter after each command:

netsh int ip reset reset.txt
netsh winsock reset
netsh firewall reset

Restart the computer.

What anti-virus are you using?
And is it newly installed?
If it is a security suite, it will have its own Firewall.
At times, it can be a problem with commumication between the two.

Also, scan your system with these two programs, just to make sure it is
clean of Malware/Spyware:

http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight.

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Malwarebytes is as the name says, a Malware Remover!
For the Free version scroll down their page to either download from
Download.com, or Major Geeks.com

Download, install, and update

You don't say when you installed AVG; that is important to ascertain if the
two things are connected: installation of AVG and firewall problem.

And full version of AVG has its own Firewall.

Try contacting AVG:
http://www.avg-antivirus.com.au/avg_...al_support.htm

And did you scan with Malwarebytes?
