After going through this nonsense in March, I see we have problems yet
again. Sent the following to Microsoft Support. Their link to the "Genuine
Advantage Update newsgroup" appears not to work.
"KB905474 "Windows Genuine Advantage Notification" fails to install on
machines with genuine Windows XP installations.
This is a similar problem to that which occurred in March on some machines
but not others - all of which were running genuine copies of Windows XP SP2.
This is becoming a frustrating nuisance for those of us who have to maintain
several machines.
How often does Micrososft have to check whether one's version of Windows XP
is genuine - and why does the procedure fail so often?
This is beginning to have an impact on my business operation.
Do, please, make your operating system more robust and reliable.
The last time I reported this problem to you, we went through loads of e
mails with you suggesting various things to try, none of which were
successful. It took advice from an independent third party to fix it.
Please advise me of a procedure to overcome this annoying failure as soon as
possible."
