Robin Walker has been posting this solution along with many other users so I
can't take the credit for it. It's also documented on the WGA Forum that MS
host.
According to Eric Brodish [MSFT] "This error mean WU_E_UH_INVALIDMETADATA
this is most likly due to the fact that the metadata that was download does
not mached the expected metadate listed in the Softwaredistribustion DB on
your machine"
Many users have had success in the easiest solution being simply manually
download and install the update rather than to rename the
SoftwareDistribution folder.
