Windows Genuine Advantage Notification (KB905474) Update Fails

Hi.

Since last Thursday I have been getting a Windows update notification that
the above-referenced update needs to install on two of my computers (desktop
and laptop). Each time I try to install the update the installation fails.
It seems unlikely that two different computers would be experiencing the same
problem likes this. Is there something wrong with this update?

My desktop is an HP Pavilion m400y Media Center PC running Windows XP Media
Center 2004 Edition. My laptop is a Compaq V2000 running Windows XP Home
Edition.

I don't know if I need this update or not. But, I would sure like to stop
the little update notification icon from constantly popping up in the system
tray on both of my computers.

I have the same problem with a german XP version. I hav mailed the errorcode
to the Microsoft service.

install:

Then re-boot Windows. Does this solve your problem?

Hi, I have been getting the same message. I checked my history and found that
this upodate had been successful back in may. have yal checked your history.
mine showed failed 9 times but it was successful.

Hi, Vincenzo!

YES! I downloaded the file and ran the update program on both of my
computers. The update appears to have applied successfully and I am not
longer being notified that my computers require the update.

Is it possible to have the french link too? I have the same problem but I got
