I have a new computer with XP pro sp2. First time I have used an XP
machine. One of the first things I did was go to Windows Update and
installed the WGA tool (KB892130). Add Remove programs shows it as
installed. Now when I go back to Windows Update, I am asked to install it
again before I can even view updates. When I first went to the update site,
it showed IE7 as a possible download along with something else. Now I see
nothing and apparently won't until I reinstall KB892130.

I have guesses for why this occurred. Those would deal with using the
administrator account and having changed some things on my user accounts.
Or perhaps it has something todo with turning off automatic updates.

I activated my system before I ever connected to the internet and I am also
fairly certain that it is fully patched.

I could really use some help on this as my prior experience on the update
site was with Windows Me and below.

Thanks.

Dave

Download the update from its KB page to hard disk, then run it from hard
disk. Does it install now?

If you are still in trouble, see
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/selfhelp/Support.aspx and click through to
the diagnostics
