Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool Installation Failure

When running Microsoft Update, it prompts me to update some Windows
Components to access new things like better results, etc, and so I click
update. Windows Installation window opens, initializes, downloads, and about
partway into the installation it jumps to the end, and I get an installation
failure window.

Error Code: 0x80070005

I've updated through Windows Update which worked fine, and seem to have
everything working ok.

Added Info: Windows XP SP2 Running ZoneAlarm Firewall (does not prompt me to
allow anything, which means it has granted it access I think), AntiVir
Anti-Virus.

My other OS has see-through toolbars.

Try the following workaround:

The WGA diagnostic tool has been updated to correct
this problem seen by some users.
Please download and execute it from:

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

After running the tool, please return to Windows Update and try it again.

Thank you so much! Now, after running Microsoft Update (Windows Update leads
me just to Microsoft Update), I get "No High-Priority Updates Are Available".
I'm assuming that Diag program validated my copy of Windows? Well, thanks
again!

Hi Justin,

The diagnostic tool was updated in order to correct this problem that was
experienced by some users. You can download/run the updated tool from here:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

After running the updated tool, try Windows Update again.

I am having the same problem running windows update on my XP Home pc.
have SP2 and until recently have been able to run WU successfully. No
when i run the updates it says it needs to update some components an
downloads the WGA but always says unable to install. I am able t
validate ok manually on the microsoft site. I have run the file poste
here and it doesnt help. What can i do? Error code i get is 0x800F010
