"Backitupduh",
I'm sorry that you are hitting this issue. If SP2 installed, then I
recommend you contact the motherboard manufacturer or processor
manufacturer. Ask them about required settings from the OS to keep the
processor from overheating, if they have any. As to programs not starting
up for 2 minutes, check the active processes running on your system by using
task manager.
1. Use the <CTRL> + <Alt> + <Delete> keys, as if you were going to log in to
the OS
2. Press the <T> key for task manager.
3. When the task manager opens, click the Processes tab.
4. Click the label "CPU" (usually the 3rd column) twice. This will sort the
CPU usage by most to least.
5. Watch the executables (usually the 1st column) that are using up a large
percentage of CPU time. If System Idle Process is not listed in the top 5
within about 20 seconds, reply back to this post and let us know what is
running so intensely. You may have a malware or spyware issue.
Sincerely,
Pat Walters [MSFT]
