windows hardware updates screwy

Win XP sp2, nVidia 2 based motherboard

When I go to windows update there are hardware updates that are incompatible
with my computer. Sil 3112 SATA controller driver update causes my SATA RAID
0 drives to be slow and choppy.

Audio. I use Realtek audio devices and drivers but Windows updates keeps
trying to download C-media drivers which do nothing but shut my sound off.

I wish Microsoft would quit trying to pretend they know what hardware
updates my computer needs and stick to their software updates...all of which
I've never had a problem with except the bug infested .NET framework 2.0.

Get your hardware updates from the hardware manufacturer's web site, not MS.

U2!

1 month ago, an ATI AIW 7500 update suddenly appeared (I have AIW 7500),
installed it and my TV was toast. Had to uninstall/install the whole thing
over again. Now, 1 month later WU is telling me I need another AIW 7500
update and an ATI MMC update. When I click the links to the "further info" no
info is found.

Been there done that..........

Very strange indeed.
