As I understand it you have three options:
1) Update the startup applications to a version that is supported by Vista
so they are not blocked in the first place. This may not be possible
depending on the blocked applications.
2) remove the blocked programs from you startup sequence, then there isn't
anything blocked to notify you about.
3) Turn off notifications in the control panel. I'm not on my Vista box
right now so I can't give you the exact path to do this, but it has been
discussed on this message board in the past and you should be able to find
those threads. I don't believe this will turn off the icon in the task bar,
but it will stop the bubble from appearing notifying you that they are there.
There my be other possibilities as well. Hope this helps and regards,
