I bought a computer with Windows Vista Home Premium installed from a large
company. Got it home, hooked it up and validated the Lic...Kewl..
Then did the Auto updates, and it also did that WGA program, okay,,Ran great
for a few days, then I got a pop up about "This version of Windows is NOT
Valid" and said I would only have limited use of my computer, until I bought
a new Lic. key !
Well, called Mfg. comp. of computer,,they said it's legal, called MS,, and
they said it was a legal Lic. Key,,but, hey gave me another one just so it
would work. Kewl, No problems for about another week,,then it did it again,
Not valid stuff all over . I jumped thru the hoops, got another Lic. Key..and
did fine for another week,,and BINGO,,Did it again !!!
The only thing being done to this computer every week is Auto Updates and MS
runs that WGA everytime!!!!! ANd everytime they do,,it does this stuff !!!
WHY?? MY computer IS legal, Lic. came with it,,Bought it and paid for
it,,,now why do I have to go thru all this to use a LEGAL computer???
I am ready to return this computer to the MFG. and get my money back,,as I
am being denied use of it BY MS. WHY MS??? Please tell me WHY should I have
to go through all this ????

Who is this large company? If your Vista License is OEM, they are required
to provide you support, not Microsoft.

Just a stupid question. Are you using a Registry Cleaning tool by any chance and which one.

I don't believe that the oems have any responsibility when it comes to
activation and the "blessing" from ms that any particular installation
is genuine.

Yes, it is a OEM,,but, after doing the Validation proccess, Windows said
thank you ,your version is now valid,.. then every week , it rejects the Lic.
Key,shuts down my computer, and I have to go through all this EVERY WEEK.
EVEN with the Lic. Key from Microsoft! lol
Get another Key,,and then it works for another week, then the nasty pop up
about being illegal, and stops me from using my computer till I jump thru the
hoops again..No wonder i'm losing my hair!
I just want my computer to work right. I paid a large amount of money for
this computer, and I just want my computer to work. I don't know WHY this is
happening. All I know, is once a week, this thing goes nutso about this
Lic.Key stuff,,,and NOTHING has been changed on here since I bought it.
Except that when I do the auto updates,,this happens. Now that tells me that
the problem is not with the Mfg, but, with the OS side of this..
I have 12 computers in my home, 4 of them are running Windows XP Pro, and
this one has Vista, so, it's not like i'm trying to Bash windows,,BUT, I want
my computer to work all the time, not just for 6 days outta 7..
And as far as which company Mfg. this computer,, Equus , also known as Mirus
.. Not that that is going to make a difference, as they sell 1000's of rigs
all over the world.
I do thank you for your input, but, I don't think this is a Mfg, support item
as the last 3 lic's. I got were directly from Microsoft and it still happened.

Restart your computer two (2) times. You should then see the activation
screen after these reboots and be able to activate the machine by entering
your genuine Windows Vista Product Key.
Afterward, visit http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/ and click on
Validate Windows, then restart your computer again.

What Microsoft says about the issue:

"This is Trusted Store tamper due to checkpoint mismatch.
While not sure why the system ended up in that state but the
information in Trusted Store files is not in sync with the one
in registry. So, Trusted Store was recreated, which means that
product key and any other information stored in trusted store
was erased. The user should see activation screen after a couple
of reboots and should be able to activate the machine by entering
the product key."
