Windows Installer hangs

KB933729, KB939653, KB941202,KB941651
Windows installer hangs when trying to install any of the above updates. The
only solution is to hard power off.
Dell Vostra 1500 running Vista Business.

I get no error messages reported.
I have tried the standalone installer and get a popup stating "Windows
Modules installer has stopped working and was closed."

Looking through the event logs, under windows logs/setup the following is
reported

The Windows update "Security Update for Windows (KB933729)" could not be
installed because of an error: 2149842966 "" (Command line:
""C:\Windows\system32\wusa.exe"
"C:\Users\Jayne\Downloads\Windows6.0-KB933729-x86.msu" ")

the relevant section from windowsupdate.log is copied below for the
standalone installer attempt.
