I have Vista Home Premium on a Gateway laptop. I am trying to determine if I
should install Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable. How can I find out
what version of Window Installer I currently have?

Hi,
Check the version of MSI.DLL in the Windows\System32 folder. This is the
Windows installer.

You can also find the version of Windows® Installer by :

On the Start menu, click Run.
In the Open box type "msiexec".
Click OK.

Run??? NO!
open the start menu and just type c:\windows\system32\msiexec , move the
mouse over the found file shown in the start menu search results and you'll
see the version as tooltip.

Yes. It's the same thing as typing it into the "start search" box

I use the "Classic" menu, therefore no "start search" box, but do have the
Run link.
