Windows Internet Explorer (Not Responding)

Windows Internet Explorer (Not Responding). I get this message fifty times a
day, everytime I try to switch programs or follow a link (or at least 20% of
the time). Eventually all I can do is click the red X then it will offer to
restart the program, which is really my only option, and what I have to do.
Is there anything I can do? Should I switch to FireFox?

If you are also using ZoneAlarm, uninstall ZA. There is a problem with
ZA/Vista/browsers.

It isn't really a question of switching to Firefox. While I do prefer
Firefox to IE, installing Firefox (or a different alternate browser) is a
good troubleshooting step for you to take. If the same issues occur using
Firefox then you know the problem lies with IE. Conversely, if the same
issues occur using Firefox then you know the problem lies more generally
with Windows.

Things that can cause IE to crash:

1. Flawed/incompatible third-party add-ons. Try running IE in no-add-ons
mode. If this works, then enable the add-ons one at a time until you find
the culprit.

Troubleshooting and Internet Explorer?s (No Add-ons) Mode -

2. Infection by viruses and/or malware. Be sure the computer is clean:

3. Problems with the Internet connection itself - hardware, drivers for the
network card, etc.

And of course, answering The First Question of Troubleshooting is a good way
to narrow down the cause.

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
