Greetings,

Have you gone through the Audio Tuning Wizard recently? If not, click the Tools menu (or
press Alt-T), then Audio and Video setup. Then you can at least determine the mic is working
correctly and correct input has been selected.

If that doesn't have any affect, one thing you might try is you and your contact should turn
off the QoS Packet Scheduler. To do so, click Start, then click the Control Panel. If you're
in category view click Network and Internet connections then click Network Connections. Right
click your network/internet connection, then click Properties. Uncheck the QoS Packet
Scheduler, and then try again.

jonathon, I have done everything you suggested, I have had several
conversations with XP , dell and my ISP, everything that we thought could be
causing the problem we have tried, I have even uninstalled and redownloaded
windows, this is driving me crazy, I cannot beleibve that microsoft don't
have a solution to this problem, I even did an upgrade and tried installing
8.1 that was worst, I have checked and rechecked with my contacts, dell put
in a new sound card I have net2phone on my computor and when I use that it
works mic and all its only a problem with windows
