I love Live Messenger but would prefer it without all the ads. Is there any
official way to remove them?

Greetings Ken,

The only "official" way is to move the Messenger dialog below the taskbar so you don't see
them. That's about it. There's no way to "pay" to have them removed.

Unofficially, there's patches you can use (I'm sorry, I'm not going to provide links as I
don't believe you should remove the primary revenue stream of Messenger) however this will
violate the Messenger terms of service.

thanks for the info.. I'm not going to try any unauthorized "patches". It's
to bad I'd rather pay than have all those ads clutter things up... Oh Well...

Hi,

I've heard it talked about before, but I think the ad side won.

Also, the old version of Messenger:Mac allowed you to remove the ad if you had Office:Mac
installed. This "feature" got removed too though.

If you consider that most of these ads (in the UK at least) are about Live,
Hotmail or Microsoft software, I really wonder if these generate any
external revenue :P
