My windows live kept acting weird today, it's the latest version.
noticed on my yahoo IM (that i have my WLM ID added too) it kept sayin
it was signing off. I went to Windows Live to download the lates
version. It said it would update it and silver light. First it said i
failed with both, I tried again, same. I closed the installer thing ou
and tried again and it kept telling me to check my internet connectio
or that i had none, which was a buncha b.s. as i had to have had it t
download the damn installer exe file! after 4 failed trys i got it t
install but now it won't sign, in, just takes 8 years and then gives m
windows live error code 81000306. AIM is signed in and works fine, Yaho
IM is signed in and works fine. My internet works fine, hell i
downloading something at a fast normal speed right now. What the heck i
wrong with it

Greetings SectorStar,

There were some server problems around the time of your post (and a few hours before) which
may have caused the errors you're seeing.

Try again now and see how things are.

I'm not sure about there being "problems" as my friends were able to get
on just fine. But I just did something via the command prompt that was
suggested from here: 'Windows Live Messenger Error 81000306 in Windows
Vista RC2 – Cannot Sign In « Techstatic.net – Mirror/Backup'

Restarted and it worked fine.

Hi,

The problems were localized - it wasn't the whole service.

All this does is turn off the networking auto tuning stuff in Vista/Win7, which if it wasn't
a problem before, really shouldn't have started being a problem.

It's no problem turning it off though, probably won't notice much of any difference.

I have just been hit by this same bug that is going around with error code
81000306. When i checked it out this is what i found

- the error code states that the signature on wlcomm.exe is invalid
- the proxy has no values (since i deleted them in one of those try this fix)
- i have deleted and reinstalled WL several times... nada
- i have deleted and downloaded even the new IE8..nada
- I am running xp sp3.. an older version of messenger was working fine.. now
it too has the same bug
- I have flushed my DNS...my computer works fine.. except the WL

With the number of individuals having this issue, I am highly surpised for
lack of a better term that there has not been a patch to fix it. This is
highly unusual and if you want to operate your windows live you have to leave
that annoying error banner open. At first that worked now its to the point
where my wl don't even sign in.

Ive been getting this too, although I havn't reinstalled yet I have done
everything It says on the Help Page. Also it signed in perfectly about 10
mins before but for some reason the button disappeared from the system tray
and it won't sign me in to Web Messenger as well.
