I am trying to find an answer to a major problem a friend of mine is having.
This may seem a bit long, but I want to get as much info to you as possible.
She has version 7 of MSN Live installed and every time she goes to sign in,
she gets a message stating a new version is availble and has a Yes/No option
to install.
She has selected Yes, installed version 8.1 and all seems to be ok, untill
she restarts the computer.
Version 7 is back, and asks again to upgrade.
She can access her emails via IE, but cannot log in to chat to people.
I have un-installed ALL previous versions of Live, restarted computer, no
problems.
I installed Version 8.1, logged in, no problems, until restarted the PC,
then Version 7 is back with the same thing - An upgrade is available.
I have restored to a previous date, done all same things again, un-installed
7, installed 8.1, restarted, and 7 is there again.
Microsoft sent details on amending some Windows files and some Registry
Files, but these did nothing apart from deleting Internet Explorer and
Outlook Express.
Apart from a complete re-installation of WinXP and download 8.1 again, I
have run out of ideas.
Can anyone please help, as my friend is going out of her mind with this
problem, and I am getting a headache from her.

Greetings,

Have her uninstall Messenger from Add or Remove Programs (don't worry, her settings and
customizations will be kept), then install this version:
