I have two installations of Windows 7 one 32 bit Home Premium and one 64 bit
Ultimate. I want to copy the message rules from the 32 bit installation to
the 64 bit installation. They are on different drives. I have already gotten
the messages, folders and contacts which seemed simple emough but I can't
find the message rules. Where are they and how do I copy them from my 32 bit
installation to my 64 bit installation?

Rules are stored in the Registry....
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Rules

If you are not adverse to working with the registry, you can export this key
from one computer running WLM and merge the .reg file into another computer
running WLM.

I can't help but opine that Microsoft could make this easier. Why they do not
include an import/export option with the proper caveats is past my
comprehension.

I have no qualms about using the regedit/registry. I kind of get a kick out
of seeing what I can do without messing up my computer.

FYI, there is a free third party utility that will back up everything
pertaining to Windows Live Mail :

http://www.staticbackup.com/windows-live-mail-backup/
http://www.staticbackup.com/products.htm#swmbf

I've used it successfully quite a few times already.

Hmmm, I forgot where I was posting.

Thanks Gary for the information. I'm sure it will come in handy in the
future when I reinstall Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on a new drive with a clean
install.
