Windows Live Messenger keeps saying - "You have 1 Invitation", I click on
the invitation and it states;-

"you don't have any invitations at this time"

Please help its driving me nuts :-)

Greetings Stevey,

It's supposedly a known issue which will be fixed sometime in the future.

The fix to this issue is:

Signout of MSN Messenger and close the MSN Messenger application.

Browse to C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Wind ows Live Contacts

Delete the contents of this folder.

Start MSN Messenger and sign in.

Hope this helps.

BTW, you will need to have 'hidden files' shown to browse the above location.

many thanks ... at the end of May, 2010, the 'known issue' still hasn't be
dealt with. It's irritating, and doesn't warm me towards Microsoft.

I just wish that someone would send me a few hundred invitations. Then
I wouldn't notice the difference between "You have 1067 invitations"
and "You have 1069 invitations". Where are the spammers when you need
them?

Hi,

There are some known issues in Messenger which have been around for at least 5 years,
constantly been bugging in the beta programs, but never fixed.

Really this is just another example of that, although supposedly it is fixed in the upcoming
2010 release.

Hi Steve,

Funny enough that did happen to me, I'm at 515 right now.

The number changes on a daily basis
