Windows Live Messenger 8.1 and Vista Ultimate

I am forced to use WLM 8.0 with my Vista Ultimate build since 8.1 fails to
connect.

I have folowed all the stepts taht said to remove Java but still no
difference.

8.0 is working fine but every few days I am only reminded that thre is an
update. Select the don't remend me for a week only lasts 2 days.

Any news on when MS will release a updated version ?

I'm using WLM 8.1 on Vista Ultimate with no problems. Just out of
interest, how do you connect to the internet? Is it through a router?

Yes at work i go though a Sonicwall 2410 at home either a Linksys or Netgear
depending which home.

Again this just happens with 8.1 8.0 works fine.

It might be worth checking the MTU setting on your home router as this
has often caused me problems. Mine is set to to 1458 at the moment and
it's giving me no problems.

my MTU is set at 1492. Note this happens all the time no matter where I am
pluged in (airport, starbucks, etc)

Any ideas on when 8.2 or better will be out.. Yahoo and AIM have full Vista
releases that are about to come out

Hi Bob,

Simply put: If the Date and Time on the Router is not current, then
programming of Windows Live Messenger 8.1 prevents it from staying connected
or even being connected.

Make sure the Date and Time on all your equipment is set to your Time
Zone and the Date is correct. Little things effects some programs,
especially Instant Messenger programs.
