Windows Live Messenger 8.1 Font Problem

I just purchased a new computer that runs Windows Vista Home Premium. I'm
finding that after I have typed for a little while in Windows Live Messenger
8.1, my font goes all funny. Instead of a question mark, it starts typing
this: É. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how do I go about fixing
it? Thanks in advance for any help.

This usually happens if your keyboard layout is in the US International layout. Assuming
this isn't what you want, click Start, then choose Control Panel. Choose 'Change keyboards
or other input methods' under Clock, Language and Region, and then choose the 'Change
keyboards...' button.

Then change the default input language to English (United States) - US as opposed to the
United States-International layout.

press left shift then ctrl. I had same problem. cheers!
