Hi all!

I have downloaded the leaked Windows Live Messenger 8.5 beta pre-release
build from one
website and installed it on my notebook PC. It work fine except one annoying
problem. Can any friend advise me how to solve this?

Here is the problem:

1. Every time I reboot my PC (Windows XP PRO), a Windows Explorer window
will pop up, and show the folder C:\Program Files\Windows Live. This folder
contain two sub folders, Installer and Messenger.
This is annoying.

2. So I remove Windows Live Messenger 8.5 beta, and revert back to 8.1, but
the C:\Program Files\Windows Live folder and all its content was still
there. Every time I restart or log off and log on my PC, the a Windows
Explorer window will pop up, and show the folder C:\Program Files\Windows
Live every time.

3. The only way I can solve this problem is to delete C:\Program
Files\Windows Live folder. And if I create a blank Windows Live folder in
C:\Progarm Files, the problem occured again

4. I asked this problem to many people on the net and get advise, but it do
not work. Here is the advice I've got:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it is very simple to solve and you didnot need to uninstall live messenger
!!!!
easiest way:[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]"Userinit"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\userinit.ex e,"

this above registry file at the end is userinit.exe, there must be a comma
after userinit and if not put a comma there and that will solve it.

there are two ways to fix this;

1. start menus RUN dialog
2. msconfig
3. uncheck the file that has got no values and restart problem solved

second method registry ;

To fix the problem launch REGEDIT from the Start menu's Run dialog and
navigate to one of the keys mentioned below. Repeat the process for the
other key, then restart your system to verify that the problem Explorer
window does not appear at start-up.

1. Start >>> Run
2. Regedit
3. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
4. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
5. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\
Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\userinit.exe (delete if this is there)
6. If u see a blank registry file delete it there and thats all

if that didnot help then do the following
also check the following registry if not there then write it as new string
value u must see carefully that after userinit.exe there must be a comma if
not then put a comma and it will solve the problem ;

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]"Userinit"="C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\userinit.ex e,"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Explorer\Advanced]"PersistBrowsers"=dword:00000000
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I HAVE DONE ALL THE ADVICE AND IT WON'T WORK. cAN ANY FRIENDS HERE GIVE ME
ADVISE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM CORRECTLY? NOT BY JUST DELETING C;\PROGRAM
FILES\WINDOWS LIVE FOLDER.

HELP AND ADVICE PLEASE.
