Hey Stephen... thanks for the link... it worked like a charm in running the
old version of MSN Messanger. My problem wasn't that I couldn't get the new
version installed but that I couln't sign on after the installation. Rather
than fooling around with trying to get Windows Live Messanger 8.5 working I
deleted and reinstalled my old version and sure enough running Messanger in
compatibility mode (except for me XP didn't work but Windows Server 2003 did
AFTER I ran the executable (msngrcompat.exe) you included with your posting.
Thanks alot, at least I have a working OLD copy of MSN Messanger. I tried
all the suggestions in the groups as how to get the forced new upgrade of
Windows Live Messanger going (kept getting "can't sign on") which evidently
is a common problem according to the many posts.
