Windows Live Messenger Alerts not showing

I dont know if anyone is facing the same problem, but all my alerts are
checked to display when I get someone online or email, but its not showing
them for some reason.. sometimes I see that its changing shape thats how I
know, but doesnt show the contact or email? any idea ?

Is your status set to Online? Or is it set to Busy by any chance?

No my status is set to online, I know that busy doesnt show contacts. I also
un-installed and installed again with no luck. it worked only once before
that, then stopped again for no reason! is this a bug?
