Windows Live Messenger Auto Reconnect on Connection Loss?

On my windows live messenger (2009), when I lose my internet connection,
windows messenger will not automatically reconnect after the connection
has been reconnected. It just keeps doing the countdown to the connect
attempt and just starts counting down again as if I'm not connected to
the internet, over and over. How can I fix this??

Greetings Brandon,

It sounds like it might not be realizing you're reconnected, has cached old DNS entries,
etc.. What sort of connection/network environment are you using?

I'm having the problem. OS is Windows 7 64bit and connection type is
PPPOE. Could this be a bug with live messenger 2009 on 64bit OS's?
Please help.

I am seeing this issue also - connection is lost, and I can sit an
watch it count down to reconnection until it hits 0, at which poin
there is no attempt to reconnect - it just starts a new countdown.

This is very frustrating as I work over the internet and rely o
contact from workmates. Whereas when connection was lost in the past i
would automatically reconnect, I am now constantly receiving SM
messages stating I am no longer online.

I am running Vista 32 bit, Windows Live Messenger Version 2009 (Buil
14.0.8089.726)

Is there any solution to this problem?
