Windows Live Messenger Contacts

After updating my Windows Live Messenger I had duplicate contacts listed in
my contact list. (This is a repeat of a posting I made a couple of weeks
ago.) After doing a restore on my system, I now have triplicates of each
contact. I have a couple hundred individual contacts which have grown to 600
with the triplicate listings. It doesn't seem practical to go throught the
list and individually delete 400 contacts. Is there some way to correct the
data so that the contact list contains only 1 entry for each contact?

in Windows Live Messenger there is a option either in "options" or in the
contacts section that deletes duplicate contacts. use this to clean it all up
