Windows Live Messenger Crashes

Hi,

I've had Windows Live Messenger for a while and it has worked perfectly
fine, no crashes, no bugs etc.

Just recently however whenever i try to log in it brings up my contacts
page, then as soon as i click anywhere on the program it simply crashes and
won't respond.

Now i have changed nothing to do with this program, so can anyone help me
with how to stop it crashing?

(Windows Messenger original works fine.)

Damn it! This is REALLY frustrating!

Exactly the same thing that Tom says is happening to me. I can log in fine, but as soon as try to start a chat with a contact it all freezes and i can't even stop it or shut it down from task manager.

The weird thing is that the same is true for yahoo! messenger as well.

What is the technology behind the live chat windows that must have got corrupted?

you don't happen to have shared folders on do you?

Argh..!
I've got the same problem here!
I don't use shared folders..

It seems like something about the account is corrupted, as others account
work just fine on the same computer.
It started out of nowhere.. Well, actually, I think it may have happened
after a friend of mine, who was under "Appear Offline" told me he was gonna
send me a file. Just after that.. Live Messenger crashed.

Now I have to use other clients as MSN Messenger just stops responding after
getting contacts information (or whatever it maybe).
