Hello everyone,

Is the link in the Start Menu > All Programs for "Windows Live Messenger
Download" removed when Windows Live Messenger is installed? Does it come back
if you uninstall Windows Live Messenger? Mine has disappeared,

Best wishes,

Andrew

Yes.

If you can't find it, here's the download link:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Thanks!

As a matter of programming curiosity, is there any way to restore the
original "Windows Live Messenger Download" to the Start Menu > All Programs?

Many thanks,

Andrew

The original shortcut might be buried somewhere deep down in Vista for all I
know, but here is a general approach to adding stuff to the start menu:

Create a shortcut [in this case the http link I gave you], File > New >
Shortcut, and save it in this folder:

:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Alternatively, if you just want one user to have it in his or her start
menu, you can store the shortcut here:

:\Users\%UserProfile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Wi ndows\Start Menu\Programs

Open the shortcut's Properties > Change icon, and pick a suitable icon [in
this case Messenger] from this file:

:\Windows\system32\SHELL32.dll
