it is been 2 days already and not a single reply. I am posting on the microsoft
forums here right?
If there really is no solution to this I will just format my C drive but I'd
rather avoid that ...

Windows Live Messenger Help [No error on Sign-in]
Hello everyone,
I have been trying to fix this for several days now and none of the fixes that
I have found and tried worked.
The problem starts with signing in onto Live Messenger. It starts signing in
and after a few seconds it returns to the sign-in screen without any prompt.
After trying the following I am still facing the same problem:
- Remove contents of Windows Live Contacts Folder
- Remove Windows Live Contacts Folder
- Remove contents of Windows Live folder
- Remove Windows Live folder
- Check date/time through "control timedate.cpl"
-

Windows Firewall fix attempt
- Using Kaspersky 2009, configured it for Windows Live
- Tried with disabling Kaspersky security completely
- Downloading the 3 dependancies (Contacts.msi,crt.msi,dw20shared.msi)
- Completely uninstalling Messenger using ZapMessenger
- Registering a new account
- Changing passwords
- Trying the fixes for every explained errorcode
- Clearing the HOSTS file(s) due to Spybot Search&Destroy
- Using Windows Live Messenger with any of the compatibility options
(Win95,Win98,Win2000)
These are some errors found in the errorlog:
Zone_Contact_Platform_Errors Contacts store failure, forcing Logoff.
Zone_HotmailProtocol CMNSNet:

isconnectInternal@00C97708: called with
hrDisconnect = 0x81000312
Zone_HotmailProtocol CPresenceServiceImpl::OnMNSDisconnected@00C974C8:>
Error: 0x81000312, Hint: 0 msec
On a side note, The oldest MSN Messenger that comes standard with Windows XP
(4.7.0.3001, Version dated 2004) works like a charm, no problems whatsoever.
The only thing I have not tried yet was completely formatting my PC. But I have
read in a few posts and articles that it did not fix anything for other users.
Configurations:
- Windows XP SP3
- Kaspersky Internet Security 2009
- Spybot Search & Destroy
- Using a modem where everything is forwarded that needs to be forwarded
If you need any more info please ask and I will get it ASAP, will be checking
this thread multiple times a day!
Thanks in advance
