Windows Live Messenger Installation Error

I've been trying to install windows live messenger for about 3 days now.
Everytime im installing it i get an 'error message'
(http://www.vistax64.com/#) that states, "an error occured during the
installation of assembly
'Microsoft.VC90.CRT.verson="9.0.21022.8".publicKey Token...and so on". It
then rolls back and states error 1603. Ive searched online, but the
solutions arent helping. Im running windows vista. Thanks for the help
