Greetings,

So I'm a bit confused, but I'm going to guess that her client (Windows Live Messenger 8) is
the one which is not responding (and you're just getting an error message)?

If so, this could be all sorts of problems, beginning with her webcam drivers (which may
need updating). One thing you could try is not using the Video Call option, but instead
using the Share my webcam option (both of you will need to do it) and then request audio.
This uses a different video functionality and may be more compatible.

This 'Share my webcam' option is available in the small webcam icon in the conversation
window, by pressing the Alt key on the keyboard to bring up the menu bar, choosing Actions,
and then Video menu.
