I have had problems for the whole week since last friday. When I started
Windows Live Messenger, it never started. But in task manager, I saw one
process called msnmsgr.exe and its mem usage is 13,972 K. Sometimes at odd
time, it finally started. But when I need to chat with my friends at
specific times and I never got it started. Really I dont know what to do to
fix it and couldn't find anywhere on internet for the solution to it.

I already tried to clean up system using spybot and norton antivirus but
find nothing significant.

Help!
Frustrated! (wished never upgraded to Windows Live Messenger! where do I
find MSN Messenger to install it back. If you know where please let me know!)

I found http://oldversion.com/program.php?n=msnm for downloading old MSN
messengers. So I downloaded v 7.5 and I had uninstalled Windows Live
Messenger and installed MSN Messenger 7.5 and still have problems logging in.
I was able to see MSN signon screen and I clicked to sign on but it froze
and became non-responsive.

It is same with Windows Live so what to do? I checked the server status and
it says all is up and running.

Hi All,

You posted in Windows Live Messenger, so I don't know what operating
system you are using.

What operating system, version and Service Pack Level is currently
installed if any?

Have you run Spybot, as well as a Windows Registry Cleaner?

If not using a Windows Registry Cleaner, try TuneUp Utilities 2007 from
http://www.tune-up.com . It contains a Registry Cleaner and more, plus it
has a 30-day Trial Version available to download.

But make sure you have the latest version of Windows Messenger, even
thou you may not be running it, installed.

I wrote about the same problem on April 5th in this forum and still haven't
had luck with getting it to work. I have resigned myself to waiting for the
next version of it to come out. I had the same idea about installing an
older version, and still no luck in getting either to work.

WOW, that's not good news for me! I am sure I will have to look for another
instant messenging software to satisfy my needs.

I can't afford to wait until next software release, I doubt they will have
major release but probably a minor release relating to this kind of problem.
But when??

I gotta move on to other messenging software too sad to lose Microsoft but
that's their loss.

Thanks Charles for sharing!
