"Talk to the hand". Hahahahahahahaha.
Let's see... I'm not having any issues regarding WLM conectivity. Most of
people are not having issues regarding WLM connectivity (except those runing
the ugly Zone Alarm). You are having, as I see, continues issues regarding
WLM conectivity...
So I would start looking in your connection and/or system configuration:
Does other instant messenger works fine?
I don't use NIS (since I think it sucks very much for a lot of reasons, but
that's another story

, but any wannabe firewall has some kind of
logging... What does the logging syas in the moment that the WLM connection
is being lost?
Are you running some kind of DNS/content cache that can be messing around
with the WLM connection?
Can you, or did you try, to disable for a moment NIS and see what happens?
Are you using any other software that can limit the connection, beside NIS?
Good luck.
