Windows Live Messenger "Sign In" is not consistent!

I will be nice I will be polite, but often I have connection issues with
latest version of Windows Live Messenger. My computer is running NIS 2006,
with XP w/ SP2 - When will Windows Live Messenger be connection consistent
again? Connection is so easy come easy go. Before Microsoft Windows Live
Messenger software engineers sings it praises, get the thing to connect
right! Ever hear self praise stinks? Even Yahoo Messenger & AIM connects
better than Windows Live Messenger!

When I click the "sign in" button on Messenger's interface, the button
clicks but there's no tango dance, it just stares at me, I'm connected to the
internet with High Speed cable through Comcast but once again, unless I empty
the content cache from those folders & then reboot my PC, Windows Live
Messenger connection is very unstable. Any explanations or suggestions?

I remember posting a very intelligent question to Windows Live Messenger's
newsgroup, My questions was: "Why doesn't Microsoft post the version number
next to the client download so we can know in advance If we need to update
but they don’t listen! Is Windows Live Messenger newsgroup nothing more than
Microsoft's way of saying "speak to the hand"? Get back to me Microsoft, I'm
not pleased.

"Talk to the hand". Hahahahahahahaha.

Let's see... I'm not having any issues regarding WLM conectivity. Most of
people are not having issues regarding WLM connectivity (except those runing
the ugly Zone Alarm). You are having, as I see, continues issues regarding
WLM conectivity...

So I would start looking in your connection and/or system configuration:

Does other instant messenger works fine?
I don't use NIS (since I think it sucks very much for a lot of reasons, but
that's another story , but any wannabe firewall has some kind of
logging... What does the logging syas in the moment that the WLM connection
is being lost?
Are you running some kind of DNS/content cache that can be messing around
with the WLM connection?
Can you, or did you try, to disable for a moment NIS and see what happens?
Are you using any other software that can limit the connection, beside NIS?

Good luck.

Thank you for your kind reply. No further configuration will be made with
WLM, I have AIM, Yahoo Messenger & Chikka running on my PC & they seem to
work fine. WLM is the exception to the rule.
