Windows Live Messenger Test Call

Skype has a Test Call Address where you listen back at your own transmission.

Is there any way of doing something similar in Windows Live Messenger?

I have a problem where the sound quality is unusable when I make a video
call in Messenger but it is OK in Skype (this is using a Logitech Quickcam
Fusion). It would be useful if I could make a test call and then have it
played back to me so I could try out changes without having to find someone
to call.

Greetings JMB,

There was actually one in development ~2 years ago but unfortunately due to some politics was
dropped.

Usually sound quality issues are problems connecting directly to your contact and Messenger
ends up using a relay. One thing you might try is you and your contact should turn off the
QoS Packet Scheduler. To do so, click Start, then click the Control Panel. If you're in
category view click Network and Internet connections then click Network Connections. Right
click your network/internet connection, then click Properties. Uncheck the QoS Packet
Scheduler, and then try again.

I tried using a different Webcam, just a cheap one and the same problem.

Then tried turning off QoS Packet Scheduler and again did not make any
difference.
