Windows Live Messenger won't stay logged in?

As of today, with no configuration or other changes to my PC, Windows Live
Messenger (8.1) just won't stay signed it. It signs in just fine, shows me
my contacts and then, about 5-10 seconds later, it signs me straight out and
back to the logon screen. If I'm really quick with my mouse, I can get an IM
window up and start to compose a message before I am dumped!

I have tried downloading and reinstalling it, but it does exactly the same.
I think I have identified that this PC is also not at fault, as it does it
on another PC too - fresh install. Is there a problem we should know about?
My other services with this Hotmail.com account seem unaffected, and I can
log in fine with these credential on yet another PC using a (much) older
version of MSN Messenger.

Greetings David,

I assume you're using a router or other network sharing device? You might want to try
resetting it (power off/on), works wonders sometimes.

No can do I'm afraid - I'm connected through a corporate LAN at work. Is it
likely to be a problem specific to my hotmail login, or rather to the
network here? I can log in, as I said before, fine using a much older
version of Messenger - but that's not too useful!!
