I've upgraded to Windows Live Messenger version 2009. It is set to
automatically sign in when connected to the Internet. However it does not
automatically sign in. I have manually sign in. How do I fix this?

When I had the previous messenger versions, they were all ok and would auto
sign-in with no problems.

Appreciate any help with this. Thanks!

I, personally, have run across this in four instances:
(1) If I have two or more Passport or Windows Live ID's in use on the
computer. (No solution to this. You're stuck.)
(2) It is simply slow *sometimes* to do the autologon. Very slow.
(3) IE and Messenger, if run at the same time, are run with different user
credentials.
(4) Messenger wasn't instructed to remember the password. Note: If the
Messenger window isn't sized sufficiently large, you won't see the option
on the signin screen to tick "remember me".

my v.2009 doesn't even record any sign-ins. I've to key in all details
every time my terminal is switched on. My problems are much worse than yours
sweetie. I get errors due to Messenger while shutting down my windows too.
This, after reinstalling to version 2008 and then updating to version 2009,
still getting the same errors.

*very upset*

for the last few days to a week i have been having no auto sign in issues
also when i turn my PC on for the day. I have to manually put everything in
to sign in, and yes i always have the sign me in automatically box checked
which checks everything else. quite a hindrance when I turn my PC on and then
walk away expecting to get IMs and hearing them in other rooms but not able
to since it wont log in. I believe this started happening the same day Xbox
Live did their maintenance on Tuesday June 16th 2009... but that could just
be a coincedence.
