This is a second post on the WL printing problem that came to my house on
three computers and two different printers - a Vista Home Premium system and
two W7 Home Premium systems. All are 64 bit versions and all have the
latest version/build of IE8. Since I have not gotten any positive response
except - if it don't print correctly don't print! Can someone please tell
me how I can contact the MSFT WL team and explain what is going on. I never
had the problem until about 2 weeks ago. The problem is that WL drops about
1 inch off the right side of some emails (Schwab eConfirms in my case). I
am about ready to give up on MSFT since I cannot find a phone number or
email address or online whatever to discuss/address the problem. There are
other posts floating around the web and this new group where other people
have the same problem. Assistance would be appreciated.

Hi, Ken.

It has been years since I've had any such problem, but I recall that OE was
an integral part of IE and we always had to use IE's print tools to manage
OE's printing. WLM is not a part of IE, but I think it still inherits at
least some of IE's print settings.

I'm no techie and can't help with the details, but I think you might find
that some IE settings are the key to your problems.

Good luck! And please let us know what you learn about this so that we can
give better advice to the next user.

RC

Try the test I suggested for a repro case:

1. In IE. Open KB902093 (which has long lines which should not be chopped or wrapped)
2. File, Send, Page by E-mail
3. Send that to yourself. (because you can't use Ctrl-p then)
4. Receive it.
5. Press Ctrl-p
6. See: Regardless of your page setup, e.g. Landscape, Legal Extra
those long lines in the examples from the KB article are either
chopped or wrapped unnecessarily and inexplicably.

QED.

BTW the MS Communities search is still FUBAR.
Fortunately Google Groups has this one archived
and easily found:

Hi, Robert.

Thanks, but Ken is the OP with the problem. I'll let him try it and report
back. ;<)

Is the "Ken" <krlor...@comcast.net> in the Google thread in your link the

I forwarded one of the emails that WL does not print correctly (drops about
an inch off the right margin) to my HotMail account. I then went directly
to HotMail.com via IE8 and printed the
email using the printer icon to the right of the "Move To" tab in HotMail
and the problem email printed
CORRECTLY. I tried using the Print function from the IE8 menu and got the
whole window printed, as expected, with the complete email overlayed - not
expected. Just for good measure I then printed the problem email from the
HotMail account using WL and 1" was again missing from the right margin.
Anyway, based on the fact that the Hotmail print function
handles the problem email correctly it would appear to a novice like me that
WL is the culprit not IE8?! Like I have said in previous postings the
problem did not occur in WL until a week or two ago.

For what it's worth, Robert's test web page printed perfectly for me from
WLMail on XPProSP3 (32b).
In your OP, you asked how to contact the WLMail team. Since I can't see
that anyone responded to this, I would suggest that you open a support
ticket by following Winston's instructions:
<quote>
1. Logon to http://account.live.com using your Windows Live ID, then cut
and paste one the following urls to your browser's address bar and press
the enter key
https://support.live.com/default.asp...=wlmaildesktop
or
https://support.live.com/eform.aspx?...top&ct=eformts

2. Click on the first item in the left hand pane FAQ List (e.g. click on
How do I install and run WLM for the first time), then allow that item to
load in the right hand pane
3. Look in lower right and click on 'Get more Help'; allow that page to
load
4. Click on 'Get Support'; the e-form will load.

Note: Logging on with your Live ID in step 1 at account.live.com should
also ensure that your account's full and email address fields are
automatically filled in on the e-form
</quote>
Then stick with them until you get told that the team are aware of the
problem and a fix will be forthcoming sometime.

If everyone experiencing this problem did the same, the techs would have a
better chance of finding the common elements in their systems.

Outlook Express 6.0 and WLMail 14.0.8089.0726 exhibit the same
symptoms. AFAIK, both mail clients use the Internet explorer
print engine.

Consequently, I'm not convinced WLMail is the real culprit. I
suspect the real problem lies with the way these programs
interact with IE8.

Really?...

Aha. I thought it might have been because of my printing to XPS Writer
(I mentioned in the other thread that I don't have a real printer.)
but I bet it's because you won't be printing it in its full HTML glory.

E.g. I just avoided the truncation and wrapping problem with it too
but only after using Tools, Safety Options... Security tab,
Restricted Sites and Block images... to try to prevent any of its
graphics from being included. Even then, WLMail still included
some inexplicably at the bottom.

I forgot to mention that I had discovered this earlier with a sample
that Bob had E-mailed me. There is no trouble when the graphics
are suppressed. The truncation and reformatting only occur when
images are allowed.

Do you see the problem symptom if you allow full HTML rendering
of the KB article?

Thanks for the instructions. I've been to that page several times but never
followed the path you suggested. They don't make problem submission
obvious! I have submitted the problem and we'll see what happens.
Probably be a good idea if all of the people with this issue submit also.
