This error message comes up when I try to run the beta 2 Messenger 8.5
installer. I'm running (genuine) Vista Ultimate 64-bit. I can't see anything
in the system requirements about this. I've tried compatibility mode. Is
there anything else I can do?

Hi Matt,

The installer doesn't support 64-bit yet, see the release notes at
http://get.live.com/en-us/betas/installer_release_notes
If you can't wait till it does (it is being worked on) you'll have to find a
seperate installer (.msi) file from somewhere ( i believe someone posted a
link to one onhere already).

Thanks Sunshine. Sounds like someone needs their free Microsoft doughnuts
revoking for at least a month as punishment.

Found the solution anyway. I installed it on my dual-boot XP install, then
installed it on Vista 64 by searching for and running these two files that
were left over. It's looking good.

Install_{CB5EA99C-8A5B-49F2-9A1A-2EF78BE4DB41}.msi
Install_{508CE775-4BA4-4748-82DF-FE28DA9F03B0}.msi

You're welcome

Let's hope they'll come with a 64-bits compatible installer soon eh...but
yea till then...seperate .msi files are the way to go (on 64 bits at least
and yep you can indeed get those out of install on XP too )..

Can i have those free doughnuts?
