Windows locking up after recent security updates

I have Windows XP Home edition with SP2. My computer has run fine for since
I have had it, but when I ran the security updates 2 weeks ago, my system
started having an issue. When I would play a 3D online game (EQ) the system
would intermittently lockup. I didn't think of the patches being the issue
at first and have gone through my entire system, replaced fans, reseated
memory, replaced power supply, bought a new video card...you name it, I did
it.

When I reinstalled windows it worked great. But, when I ran the security
updates, it started locking up again. Thus, my security updates are OFF now.

I have an AMD 3200+ processor on an Asus A8V deluxe mb with 2 mb of ram and
an ATI Radeon Pro video card. Hard drives are WD 160 gb IDE drives.

Anyone else run into this issue? Is there a known fix? For now I am just
not running the security updates anymore which sux but its the only way I can
keep from screwing up my system.

I had something simalar, I had to completly remove all my McAfee Security
program and install the newest Program updated Version. My wife had run her
3D Pin Ball Machine on my Pc causing a problem that shut down, froze up in
all programs, but the McAfee done the trick.
