Windows Mail and Outlook PST file

Can you tell me whether it is possible to connect to outlook 2000 .PST files
across a network with vista windows mail? I don't want to upgrade Outlook
2000 but it does not work adequately in vista (it terminates when I try to
send an email but it does read old emails OK)
