Windows Mail (Formerly OutLook) Outputting XHTML Wierdness?

I'm seeing my comments posted to a news group appear with XHTML <br />
elements as this snippet shows...

....and who would be responsible and how long do customers intend to <br
/><br /><br /><br />pay when other software vendors have changed their
products to keep up with the rigorous demands the product is expected to <br
/><br /><br /><br />meet?<br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br

What the heck is causing this? I don't format what I write with carraige
returns I always resize the Window and let text I am typing flow...
