Hey,

Does anyone know the pop3 and smtp account names when setting up Windows
Mail ? I use Yahoo mail but when trying to attach anything to email my
system reverts to Windows Mail cause it's the default mail program. I've
tried to change the default mail to Yahoo but can't do that either so I
suppose I'm just useless today !!!! I use DSL and my computer is wireless
connected to ISP through a router. Windows mail asks for the pop and smtp
account names. I've tried everything I can think of but no go ??????

How do I get this info or does anyone here just know it ??

Thanks Bunches, You people are fantastic here !

Joy

You can't use Windows Mail for accessing/using your Yahoo mail unless
you upgrade your Yahoo mail to the paid version: Mail Plus.

You might want to have a look in: microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail

The question is being constantly answered in there.

Hi Nonny, My Windows Mail will not have anything to do with my Yahoo Mail, I
just use Yahoo now, I never set up my windows mail program when i first began
using my computer. But, Windows Mail is the default mail client in my system
but I don't know the POP and SMTP addresses to set it up. (that is what is
asks for during setup). When u go thru the setup, it asks you for your i.d.
name, your email address, etc., etc. - those specific things. My windows
mail and yahoo mail are TWO seperate things, I don't want to use one for the
other or anything of that nature. I just want to set up Windows Mail, forget
the Yahoo okay.

does your internet service provider supply you with an email address?
do you want to set that up and use that instead of yahoo mail?

You must have an email account with your ISP. They can provide you with the
POP and SMTP addresses.

Your IP address says you're using Windstream.net.

Is that your ISP?

If so:

Incoming Mail Server: pop.windstream.net
Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.windstream.net
Windstream requires smtp authentication.

Full setup (for Outlook Express... you will have to modify for WM):

Yes I do, I want to start using Windows Mail if possible but like I said,
during the set up, it keeps asking me for the POP and SMTP addresses and I
have tried everything I can think of plus not sure even what I am suppose to
use there. Any knowledge about this. I've checked out all kinds of website
and entered in the POP and SMTP info as suggested but still, NO GO.

HELP !!! Thanks - Joy

I don't have an ISP that I pay for, I just use Yahoo Mail or I use Gmail.
