Are there many advantages to using Mail Live instead of Windows Mail?

Windows Live Mail is the newer program, and replaces Windows Mail which
comes with Vista.
Both are email programs and newsreaders.

WLM has an integrated calendar which synchs with your online Live/Hotmail
calendar.
WLM can access Hotmail/Live/MSN http email accounts, which WM cannot.
WLM can synch your contacts with the online Windows Live Hotmail, if you
sign in with a Live ID.
WLM can access RSS feeds.
WLM can auto-complete typed in email addresses from the Contacts, WM only
remembers 29 typed-in addresses.
WLM has separate Inbox, Drafts, Sent items, Junk email and Deleted items
folders for each email account. WM dumps all email into one Inbox.
WLM has 37 spell check languages, WM has 4.

WM can let you view the source code when composing a message, WLM cannot.
WM has not been updated since Vista was released.

WLM and WM can now both access Hotmail POP3 accounts, since MSFT has added
that service.

None for either. Both are very poor programs. I suggest Thunderbird,
available for free at http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird

Have to agree. T-bird is very nice, there are lots of add-ons. It also
runs cross platform so you can access your mail from any Windows
platform.

WM is OK if you want a stock replacement for OE. WLM is another pig of
a program. It sucks seriously if you have very many email accounts.

Not exactly. You have to switch between email and newsreader window.

Outlook Express could.

Outlook Express has one Inbox only for all multiple email addresses.
Not as WML several Inboxes for multiple addresses.

OE in old good times could acces Hotmail too, until 2007 (?).

Sometime one cannot help having impression that MS does a lot
of "changes" for the sake of change calling it a new version then.
Sometimes "a new" version is NOT better that an old.
XP - Vista or WML - Outlook Express or Windows Mail.
They forgot one thing; If it works - don't try to fix it.

Frank doesn't read my posts. He just succumbs to his usual knee jerk
reaction and posts his usual lying crap. In fact, Frank uses
Thunderbird. From his headers:

"Thunderbird 2.0.0.21 (Windows/20090302)"

And you can get the new version of Ubuntu, Jaunty Jackalope! Get it FREE

Not only is it free but it comes with access to thousands of free programs!

What can be done with Ubuntu?

Email
Surf the web
Burn CDs.
Rip CDs.
Listen to music.
Watch vidoes/DVDs.
Scan and print.
Spreadsheets.
Presentations
Newsgroups.
HTML editing.
Games like Chess, Tetris, all kinds of solitaire, etc.
Make videos.
Download photos from a camera and organize them.
Translations.
Use a dictionary
Learn how to touch type.
Edit images.
Send and receive a fax.
Take screenshots.
Create .PDF files.
Create and use a data base.
Instant messaging with over 10 different programs in one including
Windows Live Messenger.

Bluetooth.

and much more!

What you can't do with Ubuntu:

Run some MS or other niche programs like AutoCad. Most video games won't
work with Ubuntu either so if you're into games, dual boot with XP.

Or worry about:

WPA and WGA raising their ugly heads,
DRM,
Viruses,
Root kits,
Spyware,
and
Malware.
