Windows Mail to Windows Live Mail Migration

I downloaded Windows Live Mail. It seemed to automatically import the
settings OK and some of the messages. Other mail folders were missing and
had thier names truncated and replaced with wierd numbers. I tried importing
and exporting with the same result. Is there a limit to how many messages
are stored in storage files?
I also tried to use Thunderbird, as Windows live looks pretty hoaky, but
there is not an option in Thunderbird to import from Windows Mail. Any
suggestions? I want to make sure I have all my messages safe before I
install W7 and loose my windows mail.

I apologize if this shows up twice. I posted it previously but I'm not sure
which group it ended up in.

Not sure about the other questions, but to import WM messages into
Thunderbird, you need the ImportExport Tool add-on...
https://nic-nac-project.org/~kaosmos/mboximport-en.html

then import all eml files in a folder. The message location is normally
C:\Users\<yourlogin>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windo ws Live Mail
(note: \Appdata is normally hidden)
